How to Gain Victory in All Circumstances

Hello Bride of Christ,

Musicals, people either love or hate them. Did you know our God loves musicals? This summer, to my delight my sons and I find ourselves enjoying the magic of musicals, where people resolve problems and celebrate good times through song. Our God inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3), and He uses our songs of praise to establish strongholds against His enemies (Psalm 8:2).

David in Psalm 8 reveals how God uses the praises of His children (young impressionable people), and infants (vulnerable needy people) to set up defenses and silence the enemy. “Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.” (Psalm 8:2) David, the second King of Israel acquainted with victories and hardship often fleeing for his life composed songs of praise to help him gain victory in all circumstances. Psalms sung on mountain tops of victory and in desperate valley lows illustrate how our God uses songs of praise to allow David to find peace, acceptance, strength, encouragement, and guidance.

Joshua also experienced God’s musical character when he led the children of Israel to conquer the impenetrable city of Jericho. In the book of Joshua, the account is written of how God told Joshua to gather men of war and seven priests to walk around Jericho’s city walls. God’s specific instructions were to take one lap around the wall for six days, but on the seventh day to take seven laps and on the seventh lap to break out in musical number consisting of priests blasting trumpets and people shouting. “So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets. And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted a great shout, that the wall fell down flat.” (Joshua 6:20)

Bride of Christ, find yourself needing to silence the enemy or remove false securities? Find yourself on a mountaintop with a heart filled with gratitude? Sing praise! Allow the musical moment to occur for we worship a God who uses the praises of His people to establish strongholds and provide victories in all circumstances.

“Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament! Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness! Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and the harp! Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with the stringed instruments and flutes! Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!” Psalm 150
