Wonderful Creation

Hello Bride of Christ,

As I sit here and watch my sons play their Saturday sports, I am reminded of how much detail the Lord orchestrates in His creation of us. We spend many hours practicing and planning for real game scenarios. We talk about positioning, mindfulness, and strategy. We practice, practice, practice. Then game day comes. I watch with anticipation to see how my sons will apply all that we practiced. Will they remember to analyze the situation and remember how to respond? Will they stay engaged throughout the game and remember to use all the resources they have been equipped with to respond? Will they need to be reminded of all the practice they have done and all the resources and skills they have been equipped with?

Are you in need of that today as well?

Thankfully, the Holy Spirit knew that we would often need reminding of such things, and as such inspired David to pen Psalm 139.

Today, we will look at verses in this Psalm which remind us exactly who we belong to and who we are. Take a moment here to read Psalm 139.

You Are Known

David, the writer of this psalm, level sets the reader’s perception of God by explaining the intimate relationship which exists between himself and God. David writes, “O Lord, you have searched me and known me!” (Psalm 139:1) This is an intimate in depth knowing. This is not just an awareness. God has paid extreme attention to detail with him for David proceeds to explain that God knows not only his physical moving like sitting and standing, but his mental thoughts. David mentions God is very familiar with all of David’s ways.

But why? Why is God so concerned with David?

David provides the response in verses 13-14, “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb, I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”

The same is true for you. God has spent a great deal of time and has put forth detail to create you. As a result, God makes sure He is acquainted with all your ways regardless of where you wander.

You Are Wonderful

The revelation of this leads David to an encouraging revelation. “Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well” (Psalm 139:14). The Lord knows how precious you are because of all the time and effort He has placed in creating you, watching you, seeking and searching you. It is with great anticipation, much like I mentioned watching my sons, God watches you, us, to see what we will do with all that He has equipped us.

Bride of Christ, you are greatly loved by God. You are one of His wonderful creations! Now knowing this may you respond like David in praise knowing you have been equipped and are being watched with much love!
