Promises

Hello Bride of Christ,

Do you ever just need something to look forward to? It may be a vacation, a date, a new experience, or a new beginning. They each represent a promise. A promise of relaxation, excitement, broader horizons, or a fresh start. Regardless of the promise it has the same effect on us emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. It is a positive effect of motivation, endurance, and perseverance. We know if we can just endure a little longer there will come the day we get to sign-off and leave for that vacation, purchase that new outfit for the date, exploration is on the horizon, or newness of life is in our grasp.

The Lord who fashioned us and knitted us together understands the importance these promises have on our ability to walk faithfully with Him. Let us take a look at some of the promises He has given us.

1. Promise of Order

"Then the Lord said in His heart, "I will never again curse the ground for man's sake, although the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done. While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease." (Genesis 8:20-22)

 2. Promise of Companionship & Rest

"And He (the Lord) said, 'My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.'" (Exodus 33:14)

3. Promise of Belonging

"I will walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people." (Leviticus 26:12)

4. Promise of  Blessing

"The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace." (Numbers 6:24-26)

 5. Promise of Protection

"You must not fear them for the Lord your God Himself fights for you." (Deuteronomy 3:22)

6. Promise of Answers

"Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened." (Matthew 7:7-8)

7. Promise of Abundant Life

"I (Jesus) have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly." (John 10:10)

8. Promise of Eternal Life

"And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son." (1John 5:11)

9. Promise of Forgiveness

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)

 10. Promise of a Future

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that were I am there you may be also." (John 14:3)

The list of promises goes on and on in the word of God. These are just a few to highlight how much God understands promises and has intentionally weaved them into our daily lives. The promises are great, but there is still one more aspect of these promises that should leave us even more awestricken. Each and every promise is dependent on Him, God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. There is nothing in and of ourselves we can do to fulfill these promises apart from Him.

He has made the promise. He fulfills the promise.

We simply get to partake in it and receive the benefits.

Bride of Christ, just like our earthly promises we make to ourselves the promises of God have an impact on our emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual being. When we partake in these promises, acknowledge them, and hold on to them we are motivated to live this life to the fullest. Let us not live another day overlooking these jewels, but rise up and worship our faithful God and wear these promises with honor for He is our Father in heaven whom we should honor, respect and adore!
