Need Wisdom?

Hello Bride of Christ,

How desperate are we for wisdom? What lengths do we find ourselves going to receive good advice? Life is filled with tons of choices. For ourselves, we might be considering what career should I pursue or position / role should I earn? For our families, we may consider what neighborhood should we live in or what school district / community should we settle into and belong? The choices we have in this life are many. The Lord knew it would be so.

Since the beginning with Adam and Eve, there was a choice that once made changed the course of life for all humanity. In Genesis 3: 1- 7 God shows us the choice Eve made when she interacted with the serpent and entertained this question, "Has God indeed said, you shall not eat of every tree of the garden?"  In this account Eve responds and gives her interpretation of what God had said unconsciously adding to it, "but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, you shall not eat it , nor shall you touch it, lest you die." Satan in his cunningness continues the conversation, "You will not surely die, for God knows in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God knowing good and evil."  Eve in search of wisdom to make a decision, "saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate." She made her decision. Seeking to be wise she became a fool. Eve like many of us desire wisdom to make our decisions. However, we forget who wisdom belongs to.

Proverbs 2: 1-8 states, "My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you, So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding; Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints."

Imagine if Eve would have paused instead to cry out to God. If she would have cried out for discernment and lifted her voice for understanding, instead of leaning to her own senses and her own desires, I believe the Lord would have spoken and shown her and said something to the affect of, "My sweet Eve, become like God. How could you think I would hold that back from you for when the Holy Spirit, Jesus, and I created you, we created you in Our image. In the image of God we created you." God would've kept His word and guarded her path and preserved her.

Bride of Christ, Christ would say and do the same for us today. Let us not let our desperate need for wisdom blind us to the provider of wisdom and silence our cries. Cry out to the Lord for wisdom. He will open your eyes to see that most likely what you are seeking wisdom over you already have right within you. "For in Him (Jesus) dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him." (Colossians 2:9-10) Do not entertain foolish conversations, but instead pause and seek the Lord for He gives wisdom and from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding.
