Do you see what He sees?

Hello Bride of Christ,

As a child I used to dread when my mother would ask me to go get something for her from a closet or from a room in our home. Not because I did not want to go up the stairs or pause my show to go do what she asked. It was because every time without fail I would not be able to find the item she was seeking. She would described to me what I should see and where the item should be, but I would go look and without fail I would see things how she described it and still not be able to find the item. Then when I would claim defeat she would swoop in and find the item in a matter of seconds and proclaim, "see it was right there in front of your face!"

Now as a mother I see everything and it is my children who have the limited eye sight! Oh much is the same with our Father God who we are dear children to and a great illustration and reminder of this is our reading for today in the book of Numbers chapter 13.

In the book of Numbers chapter 13 we are brought in on a conversation between God and Moses. "And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ' Send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the children of Israel; from each tribe of their fathers you shall send a man, every one a leader among them.'" (Numbers 13:1-2) God, much like my mother, was asking Moses to go take a look at the land He was going to give to them. This land was not an ordinary place, for it was Canaan, the promised land, the land promised to Moses' forefather Abraham for his descendants  (Genesis 12:7). This was the land Moses and God discussed during their first encounter at the burning bush (Exodus 3:8). God told Moses during this burning bush conversation exactly what Moses would see when he came to this land of promise, "... a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites and Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites." (Exodus 3:8)

However, Moses like me as a child forgot these details and sent out the leaders to find out what the land was like: whether the people who live there were strong or weak, few or many, whether the land was good or bad (Numbers 13: 17-20). As a result, the leaders went and spied out the land for 40 days and came back without the promise. They saw with their physical eyes the flowing milk and honey (Numbers 13:27) and the inhabitants of the land exactly as God said they would to Moses those many months ago (Numbers 13:28), but nevertheless they claimed they could not possess it (Numbers 13:31). Had Moses told them what they should expect to see and the fact God already claimed He would give it to them to posses, maybe they would have come back with a better report. But Caleb who was given as much details and instructions as the other leaders came back with a different report.

Bride of Christ, Caleb spoke up and told the people "Let us go up at once and take possession for we are well able to overcome it" (Numbers 13:30). How?  The Lord says Caleb His servant had a different spirit in him and followed Him fully (Numbers 14:24). In order to see, accept, and walk in the promises of God we must walk in the spirit. Ask today for the Holy Spirit to not only reside within you but come upon you so you can see all that God has promised you. So when God asks you to go look at the promise He is going to bring to pass in your life you come back with a victorious report. Let us not miss it like Moses and the other many leaders mentioned in this chapter, for it was only two (Joshua and Caleb) that recognized the promise of God. Come Holy Spirit and help us to see God's promises today!
